How to play
Four in a row. With tricks.
- Get four in a row on the 5×5 board: across, down or diagonal.
- On your turn, place a mark in any empty square…
- …or spend one of your 3 tricks instead:
- Shift a row or column one step. The end mark wraps around.
- Twist any 2×2 block a quarter-turn clockwise.
- Swap two neighbouring rows or columns.
- If a trick finishes lines for both players, whoever played it wins.
Every trick is a permutation that changes which marks share a line. Shifts and swaps are multiplication by a permutation matrix; a twist is a local rotation. Daily: one trick wins the position. Find it in as few tries as you can.
